Southampton Concert Band Presents
"Christmas Brass and All That Jazz" The Southampton Concert Band wishes to announce that it will be performing its annual Christmas Concert on Sunday, December 9 at 3:00 p.m. at the Port Elgin United Church. The band will play a wide variety of Christmas song favourites no matter your taste or preference, all the way from a beautiful arrangement of Angels from the Realms of Glory to a swingin' version of the Nutcracker and, of course, the band’s favourite holiday tune, Santa Wants a Tuba for Christmas! Do not let the title of this concert fool you. The woodwind players will be well represented because the band will be hosting as guest artists, "The Georgian Bay Woodwind Quintet". These five excellent musicians perform regularly with the Georgian Bay Symphony and it is a pleasure and honour to have them here for this concert. This year, there is an added incentive for families who are looking for an event to attend during the Christmas season. For the child in all of us, the classic Christmas selection entitled "Twas the Night Before Christmas" will be performed with our guest narrator, Ms. Natalie Robitaille. Natalie is the principal organizer for the Bruce County Playhouse in Southampton and is producing the play "Shirley Valentine" at the Roxy Theatre in Owen Sound from December 12-14. The Southampton Concert Band is very excited to present this show to one and all, young and old. Entry to the event is by donation and all proceeds will go to the Southampton Concert Band music library. Our annual Christmas concert will be held at the Port Elgin United Church beginning at 3 p.m. with special guests "The Georgian Bay Woodwind Quintet" and Ms. Natalie Robitaille of the Bruce County Playhouse reading "Twas the Night Before Christmas".
